AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.” (Romans 1:16)

For various reasons, Christians of different sorts have tinkered with “the gospel of Christ” as though it needed adjustments. Not major alterations, most will tell you, but just some minor tweaking here and there. The changes often begin by one’s declaring that there is no real change involved, simply a shift in emphasis. Yet, no matter what the rationale may be, the end result is being “ashamed of the gospel of Christ.”

To be “ashamed of the gospel” covers a number of attitudes from being totally embarrassed by it to thinking one can improve upon it a bit to make it more acceptable. One example of the former is the recent claim by an Emerging Church author that the teaching regarding Christ’s paying the full penalty for the sins of mankind through His substitutionary death on the Cross is irrelevant and viewed as “a form of cosmic child abuse.” More subtle examples include trying to make the gospel seem less exclusive, and the “softening” of the consequences from which the gospel saves mankind, such as the wrath of God and the Lake of Fire.

The Seeker-Friendly Way of Doing Church!

Prevalent among many religious leaders who profess to be evangelical Christians (i.e., Bible-believing Christians) is the promotion of a gospel that is acceptable to, and even admired by, people throughout the world. Today, the most popular form of this is the social-gospel.

Although the social gospel is common to many new movements among evangelicals, it is not new to Christendom. It had its modern beginning in the late 1800s, when it developed as a way to address the various conditions in society that caused suffering among the populace. The belief was, and is, that Christianity will attract followers when it demonstrates its love for mankind. To a certain degree, this is true. This could be best accomplished by helping to alleviate the suffering of humanity caused by poverty, disease, oppressive work conditions, society’s injustices, civil rights abuses, etc. Those who fostered this movement also believed that relief from their conditions of misery would improve the moral nature of those so deprived. Be Not Unequally Yoked Together with Unbelievers!

Today’s gospel is one of compromise at all costs. Many false prophets today are calling for “unity” amongst differing religious and social groups at the expense of Biblical doctrine and separation. Nearly every preacher in the World today focuses primarily upon “unity,” because that is what the World is teaching. However, it is better to be DIVIDED over truth; than to be UNITED by error.

Uniting by error is called “ecumenicalism,” and it’s of the Devil. Proponents of a social gospel aren’t concerned about doctrinal differences (i.e., the Truth of God’s Word). All they care about is uniting people together at all costs. This is sinful compromise.

The Bible is adamantly clear that Christian believers are to separate from unbelievers (2nd Corinthians 6:14-17).

The history of the social gospel is, in nearly every case, a sincere attempt by Christians to do those things that they believe will honor God and benefit humanity. In every case, however, the practical working out of “benefiting humanity” has compromised Biblical faith and dishonored God. Why is that? God’s Word gives no commission to the church to fix the problems of the World. Those who attempt to do so are starting out under a false premise, “…a way which seemeth right unto a man,” not God’s way. So where can it go from there? “The end thereof are the ways of death,” i.e., destruction (Proverbs 14:12). Furthermore, the problems of the world are all symptoms. The root cause is sin! (The transgression of God’s Ten Commandment Laws 1st John 3:4)

The social gospel is a deadly disease for “people of faith.” It reinforces the belief that salvation can be attained by doing good works, putting aside differences for the common good, treating others the way we want to be treated, acting morally, ethically, and sacrificially – and that doing so will endear humans to God. No. These are self-deceptive religious works that spurn God’s salvation, deny His perfect standard, and reject His perfect justice. Salvation is“not of works, lest any man should boast.” In fact, it is“by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Ephesians2:8-9)

Jesus declared Himself to be condemned humanity’s only hope for reconciliation with God:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me”(John 14:6) There is no other way, because God’s perfect justice demanded that the penalty for sin for every human (“for all have sinned” – Romans 3:23) be paid. Only the perfect, sinless God-Man could and did pay that infinite penalty in full by His death upon the Cross. Only faith in Him reconciles a person with God.

The shameful social gospel today not only promotes “another gospel,” it helps prepare a kingdom contrary to the teachings of Scripture.“For our citizenship is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 3:20). He will return from heaven (John 14:3) to take those who believe in Him up into the clouds and take them to heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:17). The kingdom that remains on the earth will be the kingdom that God will have to destroy, because of sin & sinners.

Balaam Taught a Social Gospel of Sinful Compromise

“But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.” —Revelation 2:14

What exactly was the “doctrine (or teaching) of Balaam”? It was being UNEQUALLY yoked together with unbelievers. Balaam basically said to the king of Moab, “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.” If you can’t beat the Israelites, then yoke with them by using your daughters to seduce their men. God allowed 24,000 Israelites to die as a result of their fornication and idolatry. The Word of God plainly teaches that God wants the believer to SEPARATE from the sinful and unbelieving World…

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord…” —2nd Corinthians 6:14-17

It is a sin for any Christian to yoke together with an unbeliever—whether it be in a marriage, in a business partnership, or in a religious event. If you marry an unsaved person, you will have the Devil for a father-in-law. Think about it. Balaam’s devilish doctrine caused God’s children to become unequally yoked with the heathen. The same thing always happens when God’s children unite with the ungodly … apostasy! This is exactly where today’s increasingly popular social gospel is taking Christians … AWAY FROM THE WORD OF GOD!

The Israelites sinned greatly when they yoked together with the heathen. Their sexual sins quickly led to idolatry. This clearly describes Christianity today! Proponents of the social gospel are sin compromisers, gay lifestyle-friendly, Rock ‘N’ Roll friendly, et cetera. So-called “reverends,” who propagate a social gospel, never expose false religions because it goes contrary to what they’re trying to achieve… unity!

Just as it was a sin for Israel to unite with the Moabites, so is it a horrible sin today for professed Christians to unite with those who are unbelievers, i.e., those who deny the deity of Jesus Christ, those who deny that salvation is by faith alone in Jesus Christ, those who deny the virgin birth and the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, those who deny the Godhead, those who deny the literal redeeming power of Jesus’ physical blood, and those who believe that there are several paths to Heaven. Christians are commanded by God to separate from unbelievers.

God also commands believers to separate from unseparated believers… “But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat“

(1st Corinthians 5:11)

Tragically, the Christian Churches are so zealous about their own social agenda that they are willing to disobey God’s Word, blindly supporting such immoral men who make a mockery of the clergy and shame the name of Jesus Christ.

A Social Gospel is New Age

Don’t be deceived my friend — a social gospel is of the Devil. The main doctrine of the New Age Movement is that there are multiple paths to “the light,” and no one religion is correct. No sir, that is a lie of the Devil.

Jesus proclaimed in John 14:6 that He, and He alone, is the ONLY way to Heaven. Most so-called “churches” today that propagate a social gospel are apostate, sin-friendly, abortion-friendly, and are merely exploiting Christianity for their own selfish interests.

The goal of New Age teaching is “unity.” Hence, the modernistic social gospel is very much a part of the now forming New World Order [NWO]. The social gospel perverts the message of the Bible, and the Authority of God’s Word is done away with. Those who hold to a social gospel, whether they realize it or not, are in the same boat as New Agers.

Communism and Nazism have a NWO as their goal (i.e., a Godless Global Totalitarian Police State). To accomplish this diabolical goal, God must be removed from children’s lives, and society must become apostate in immorality. An immoral society is a complacent society. The message of “UNITY”  is being used today by every immoral group in the World to condone wickedness, and it is all leading to a moral meltdown. Sin will undermine any nation!

A social gospel is a false gospel, rooted in unbiblical unity and sin, instead of dividing over truth and righteousness. Today’s social gospel is nothing more than ecumenical apostasy, sinful compromise, and rebellion against the Bible. James 4:4 says to be a friend of the wicked world is to be God’s enemy.

The Bible never calls Jesus the “friend of sinners,” that’s what the hypocritical Pharisees and deceitful lawyers called Him, as a slanderous term (Luke 7:34). Jesus ate with publicans and sinners to share the Gospel with them, and to let them know He cared, and wasn’t condemning them for their sins; but Jesus was never close friends with shameless sinners who openly paraded their wickedness, nor was He friends with those who hurt others and blasphemed God. Jesus was trying to help those who desired His help; not helping to further the wickedness of those who loved sin (Luke 13:32).

Those dishonest people today who would dare claim that Jesus never preached publicly against sin, never spoke out against evil, and never made a fuss over anything; are ignorant of the Scriptures.
